rainbow mount webMany people have some misconceptions about hypnosis, mostly because of what’s portrayed on television.

There’s no watch-waving, or clucking like a chicken. It’s all about relaxation and a gentle trance state.

I offer an initial consultation which is £25, and a free CD which helps enormously in the process. We will discuss together the issues you’d like to address and how many sessions you might need. It’s referred to as a ‘brief’ therapy because it works very quickly; most people suffering from anxiety and/or depression disorders can expect to be back to health and their real selves again within 8-10 sessions. Each session should be weekly and costs £50. Treating fears and phobias take 3 sessions and quitting smoking is a single 2 hour session.

The psychotherapy part utilises Solution Focused Therapy techniques and as the name suggests it focuses on solutions for the future, rather than concentrating on problems that have originated in the past.

Provided you are willing to make changes to the way you think, this therapy can be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of anxiety and stress and the many associated symptoms. Focusing on solutions means we do not dwell on problems and the process does not involve analysing painful memories from the past.

Instead together we acknowledge where you are currently, identify where you would like to be in life and help you make the necessary changes to achieve this. I’ll help you to imagine how things will be when your problem is no longer there, how you would like things to be different. So you might imagine enjoying your life more, or being more confident, doing more exercise or getting on better with your partner. It’s about identifying your preferred future.

You’ll then experience the relaxed state of hypnosis with my guidance so that we can consolidate the new positive patterns.

If you have experienced unpleasant or traumatic events, we acknowledge that they happened and then help you to move on from where you are to where you want to be.

The vast majority of people can be hypnotised, with the small exception of people who suffer from severe psychosis. The level of trance will vary from person to person, some will seem fast asleep and others in a light trance, either way the benefits will be the same. You will be in control at all times, as no one can hypnotise you to say or do anything you don’t want to, nothing like the portrayal of hypnosis on stage!

Trance is a natural state so there are no side effects. Clients tend to leave the therapy room feeling more positive and optimistic.

I’m able to see clients in both Clarence House in Penzance and Little Acorns Sanctuary in Penryn. Skype sessions now available too, see details on the main menu.

Discounts available if booking and paying in advance for 3 or more sessions, or when booking the initial consultation and  the first session for the same day.
